I am going to change the content of this blog up a bit. It will still only contain Disney and Disney related information. It will not contain anything Geo-political or political. There is enough of that elsewhere. Instead I will start posting a compilation of posts and news articles that will be of interest Disney Seniors. I know many seniors do not regularly read blogs, preferring instead to look at Facebook and its ilk. I am hoping that by collecting articles from around the net, I can become an information clearing house. Basically I will read everything so you don’t have to!
This blog will follow 3 main principles.
- I will give attribution and provide links to the original content. Authors name will be given if possible.
- I will read everything I post. I know of several blogs that just repost all sorts of things without review.
- If the original author reads my post, I want them to feel good about it. I will not trash talk anyone here. After all a blog about the Happiest Place On Earth should follow that ideal.
That’s it. Pretty simple. It all boils down to be fair and kind. Something that I wish more people would follow. I will try to highlight all included links in bold italics.
So lets get started:
Disney Free Dining
Tom Bricker on the Disney Tourist Blog has a great article covering the Free Dining Disney Hotel incentive. In his article: Free Dining Discount Now Available for Summer 2025 at Disney World!, Tom explains why this is not a surprise. According to him, Disney needs to do something to help fill empty resort hotel rooms. Although the parks are pretty crowded, the resorts are not. I really like Toms analysis on most things. This article does not disappoint.
Another great article on Free Dining is on the Disney Food Blog. The article: Disney World Free Dining Offer. This article goes into a bit of the history and has links to other Disney Food Blog resources on the subject.
So Is free dining right for you? Depends. Grandma and I are DVC members and as such, we do not stay at “normal” Disney Resort hotels. For us, paying to stay at an eligible resort just for “free” food does not make a lot of sense. However, it could really be worth looking into.
Lakeshore Lodge

The next topic I want to talk about is the new DVC Lakeshore Lodge being built between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. As I have previously covered, I am not a fan. I really don’t like the trend of building towers. Kinda kills the vibe in my opinion. Samantha Kendall wrote a great article in The Disney Food Blog outlining the progress of the construction. Her article: NEW LOOK at Disney World’s Lakeshore Lodge Hotel Opening in 2027 has great aerial shots of the current construction progress. As far as I can tell, it is going to be huge!
Back in November Tom Bricker published this article: Reflections Lakeshore Lodge at Disney World. He goes into great detail on the history of the project along with his hopes for it. Well worth the read.
When the news broke on Lakeshore Lodge back in November, the Disboards Forums started a thread about it. The thread: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Coming to the former Reflections Site in 2027 has a great conversation on it, both pro and con. I believe that I posted on the subject as well. Disboards is a great place to get questions answered and get a lot of info on many Disney related subjects. For the most part, people are really civil and I find it a pretty great resource. Check it out.
Disney World Discounts

Ok how is this for burying the lead? The most chatter in the Disney Blogosphere deals with the recently announced discounts for Disney Resort Hotels.
Lydia Storks wrote the following Disney Food Blog article: ALERT: 3 BIG Hotel Discounts Announced for Disney World!. This is a great bit of reporting on all the available resort hotel discounts. There are discounts for Florida residents, Annual Pass holders as well as general public. Well worth the read if you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World anytime soon.
Tom Bricker also covered hotel discounts in: Stay Longer & Save Up to 30% Off Disney World Resorts in Spring to Fall 2025. He links to other articles on how to same money on a 2025 Disney vacation. Again, well worth the read.
Disney is providing incentives and discounts to fill Hotel rooms. Does this mean the parks will be less crowded. Unfortunately, I do not think so. While I really recommend staying on property to get the full Disney experience, many people do not. Let’s face it Disney resorts are expensive! Families looking to save money often look to cheaper accommodations. I also suspect the new resort hotels at Universal Studios will also have an impact. Families that once stayed at Disney and did Universal as a side trip will be doing the reverse. Stay at Universal with a day trip to WDW. This is especially true since the new land at Universal is only initially open to Universal resort guests. Time will tell, I suppose.
Conclusion
What do you think of the new approach?
Should I keep doing it?
