Disney Grandpa

DVC just released more information about the paid perk named Membership Magic Beyond. As a recap, DVC Membership Magic Beyond goes on sale 12/3 for $99. The perk is valid from January 12 through December 31, 2025. You must have purchased at least 150 points direct from Disney to be eligible. I will be buying this extra cost benefit. (if I have to pay is it really a benefit?) There are several perks that I intent to use. Here is what was released today as outlined on the DVC member website:

  • Purchase specially priced 5-day weekday Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets with one water park visit included. Available for the enrolled Member and up to 7 family members living in their household. (more on this below)
  • Purchase specially priced 3-day weekday Disneyland Resort Theme Park tickets that include Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Available for the enrolled Member and up to 7 family members living in their household.
  • Receive a 30-day Memory Maker entitlement to capture and share treasured Walt Disney World memories. (Up to a $210 value if purchased separately.)
  • Meet and mingle with special Disney Characters at Disney Vacation Club ImaginAtrium – A Member Lounge at EPCOT. The enrolled Member must have a Resort reservation and be staying on Points. The enrolled Member can bring up to 4 guests or the number of guests on their resort stay reservation, whichever is greater. Available 7 days a week. Capacity restrictions may apply.
  • Take advantage of priority access to Disney Vacation Club ImaginAtrium – A Member Lounge, Disney Vacation Club Star View Station – A Member Lounge and a new Member lounge projected to open in 2025 in Magic Kingdom Park. Use this benefit when lounge access goes on a waitlist. The enrolled Member can bring up to 4 guests or the number of guests on their resort stay reservation, whichever is greater. Capacity restrictions may apply.
  • Use your Points to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks. Get a new pass for 75 points or renew your pass for 65 points.
  • Get one bonus One-Time-Use Point for each One-Time-Use Point purchased! Members can purchase up to 12 Points for a total of 24 One-Time-Use Points in a Use Year. Excludes bookings offered through the hotel exchange program.
  • Enjoy having your $95 transaction fee waived when booking Disney Collection Resorts and experiences, including Adventures by Disney, Disney Cruise Line and National Geographic Expeditions experiences.

What Do I think?

Of these I am most interested in buying the DVC Sorcerer Pass for points. A Pass for Points helps if you have points to spare and don’t want to turn loose of the cash. A new pass is $1,079 (plus tax), and a renewal is $999 (plus tax). So It could be a deal if you value the points at between $16 and $20, which is what you could rent them for. I will probably take advantage of this one.

Memory maker is also a deal I will take since I did not add it to my Sorcerers pass. Ya I know, woulda-shoulda-coulda. Normally this is not a great deal since you can memory maker to an annual pass for $99 that is good all year. This one is good only for 30 days. But better than nothing.

Some folks are really excited about the One-Time-Use points. This is where you can buy temporary points to make up for a shortfall. I have never done this, so One-Time-Use points are not a big deal to me. But I can see the value.

The thing that could be a big deal is the discount 3-day and 5-day weekday park tickets. Of course Disney had to make this hard and do tiered pricing. In fact there are 7 pages of pricing that look like: (images from DVC Pricing Sheet PDF are for example only)

So depending on when you are going, you may be saving something. According to DVC the savings are as follows:

Complicated isn’t it. I hope they make this much simpler in the future. Since Grandma and I have annual passes, we will pass on this one. (pun intended). Also I think you can get similar deals from ticket resellers such as Get Away Today and Undercover Tourist. (Note I do not receive any compensation for mentioning these sites.)

The last thing I may take advantage of is the moral equivalent of Lightning Line Pass for the DVC lounge. We have never been able to enjoy the lounges since the days that we were trying to go, the wait time was over an hour. Sorry that is just way too long to wait for a free coke.

What do you think of the new details? Is it a good deal or not? Please let me know in the comments.

Until next time;
