Grandpa is back online. Grandma and I live in the Pacific Northwest and was hit with a bomb cyclone on Tuesday night. This knocked out power, cell service and internet. We got our power and cell service back and are still waiting for internet. This storm had winds that topped 90 MPH. Here in the PNW we are surrounded by trees that can be over 100 feet tall. Many of these trees are damaged and weakened due to an extended drought. These trees were toppled and caused extensive damage. We are very fortunate in that we and our extended families had no real damage. I know that many families are still without basic services in the southeast due to the 2 recent Hurricanes. Our hearts go out to these people that are still suffering many weeks later.

While we were out of pocket, Disney made several blockbuster announcements. The Muppet 3D movie will be no more. The new Monsters Inc. door roller coaster will be taking its place. As a consolation prize, the AeroSmith Roller Coaster will be rethemed to the Muppets. The Disney Blogoshere is alive with posts about this development so I will not go into details. However I will tell you my thoughts and feelings.

This is a bitter-sweet development for sure. The Muppets 3D has been a favorite of ours since we first experienced the attraction, many years ago. It has really stood the test of time and is just as enjoyable now as when it first opened. The muppet court yard is a great place to such the crowds and have a little quite down time in a sometimes hectic park. I will miss this sanctuary.

Conversely The Rock-N-Roller Coaster has not stood up very well. Most people don’t even know who Aerosmith is or have experienced their music. The attraction is definitely stuck in the 90’s. I for one never understood using Aerosmith in a Disney attraction. They were known as the stereotypical bad boys of rock. Definitely not family friendly. I am really happy to see this excellent thrill ride rethemed to the muppets. I am really looking forward to seeing how Imagineering work their magic with the muppets here.

Now for Something Completely Different
