Disney Grandpa

Why Disney Vacations are Perfect for Grandparents: Hint it’s the kids.

It is Election Day tomorrow here in the States. We have been bombarded with political ads on all media. Everywhere you turn, there is yet another political ad about how bad off we are or will be if the opponent is elected. So this is not a political ad. Grandpa will not discuss politics on this blog. There are enough places for that already. Grandpa will discuss things that make Grandma and I happy. For us it is grandkids and Disney vacations. Having the grandkids on a Disney vacation is the BEST! This is a short post. to help get our minds off the vitriol and turn to something magical.

First a call to action. I know that my target audience of Grandparents may not read blogs. In many cases, they do not know what a BLOG is! I try to present information that is useful for all park goers. If you have a parent or grandparent that could get something from this blog, please pass it along and perhaps teach the not so tech savvy in your family what a blog is.

If there is any subject you want covered, let me know in the comments. We have been doing Disney vacations for Decades and probably know something that we can pass on.

As always a like is always appreciated.

Disneyland Resort Report

Oogie Boogie Bash 2024 just finished up. Halloween at Disney Parks is officially over. This means Christmas decorations are going up. Rides are getting their Holiday Overlays. Shows and parades are putting on their Christmas best. This is true for all parks, not just Disneyland resorts. It is getting on towards Grandma’s and I favorite time of year. It is great remembering past Christmas’s through the eyes of the grandchildren. We can remember holidays at our Grandmas house. The holidays are meant for remembering.

The big news out of Disneyland is the opening of Bayou Country and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Tiana’s is culmination of a years long re-imagining of Splash Mountain. This ride is already open in Walt Disney World and will open to the general public the middle of this month. In traditional Disney fashion, the entire land around Tiana’s has also been transformed from Critter Country to Bayou Country. Most of the stores and restaurants were refurbished in keeping with the new name. Everything is fresh and new and I am very excited to seen it.

Many of the other attractions that were closed for refurbishment are now open, including the Disneyland Railroad. New entry gates to the parks are now operational. It seems that Disneyland is hitting its stride. Grandma and I have a Disneyland trip planned for the near future. This will be our first trip back to the O.G. park since the early 2000’s. We are very excited to see all the changes.

This is the calm before the storm, however. A lot of changes and additions for Disneyland were announced at D23. These have yet to materialize. Grandpa predicts that the first sign of major construction will be new parking lots or a new parking structure. Disneyland is very much landlocked and space constrained. Any expansion will have to take away existing parking. Any increase in park capacity means more guests will need a place to park. These two things are at odds with each other. Therefore I think that before any major construction on expansion begins, we will see work on new parking infrastructure.

That does it for this quick post. Remember the good times people. It is vitally important to do so in this very contentious time.

As always Until Next time!
