Knowledge is Treasure
Ol’ Grandpa’s memory ain’t what it used to be. I can remember watching The Wonderful World of Color on our Black and White TV However remembering what I had for breakfast, not so much. So I gotta write stuff down. This post is a place where I will write a bunch of stuff down, so you can link to it and have a ready reference. I may edit this post from time to time as things change. Not all change is bad. Our family TV used to be a piece of furniture capable of only Black and White. It is now a piece of wall art. So not all change is bad.

Grandpa’s Attributes
First the aging attributes that caused me to write this blog.
- We are slower. Running at rope drop just is not possible
- Fast spinning rides makes me sick. Didn’t use to,
- I don’t bend like I used to. Joints are not as flexible
- Ride seats seem to be made for Twiggy and not Victor Buono. We are not Twiggy
- Getting up early is easy
- Staying up late is hard
- Technology seems to hinder rather than help
- You get frustrated at Gen-whatever that are glued to their phones 24/7
- You still believe in saying please, thank you and excuse me.
- You love your Grandkids to death but still want/need/crave quiet down time
I look at these changes attributes as an evolution and not a bad thing. We all should slow down and enjoy what we have earned and learned over our years. We often make it here by luck now we need to be smart.
Grandpa’s Dos and Don’ts
There are no real hard and fast rules, just a few guidelines or core principles. It is hard to follow at times due to the very nature of us humans. However Ol Grandpa found that remembering these really helps. It is supposed to be FUN!
- Do be flexible. It is not a contest on how many rides you ride. Grandma and I have had great trips and not ridden anything at all!
- Do Start Early. Starting early beats the crowds and gives more time to enjoy the day. Just don’t get caught up in the rush. Having swarms of people pass you can be anxiety inducing if you let it.
- Do let the day unfold. This is part of being flexible. Don’t be ridged. Let things take you where they may. That really paid off this trip!
- Don’t over do it. it is not an endurance contest. it is supposed to be fun Remember! Take a seat in shade. People watch. A successful day is when you are not too crippled up to go again tomorrow.
- Don’t sweat the small stuff. It is often the little things that get people upset and ruin the fun. Guests will be rude. Guests will be pushy. Kids will scream. Rides will close. It can be HOT. Take a breath. Be Flexible and just Let It Go
