Disney Grandpa

Welcome! Disney Parks and Resorts are magical places. However it can be a bit daunting to find the magic at times. Especially for those of us that are not too used to being on our phones or other devices 24/7. We have been going to Disney Parks since the late 1980s. That’s right folks I am a card carrying GrandPa! Those trips with the kids were great! Forgive me if I start to wax nostalgic, but then you did not have to have a degree in event planning in order to have a great time. You could just wing it and still hit all the main attractions. You would come back from vacation tired, but somehow relaxed and refreshed.

There are a lot of info on the net saying those days are over You must plan, plan, plan and then rush around the parks like some military campaign in order to maximize your “fun”. During the time in the parks you have this fear-of-missing-out dread that comes over you. Anxiety levels spike, frustration sets in, tempers flair, and sadly fun dies. You come back from vacation more frustrated, anxious and keyed up than before you left. Wondering why did I spend this much money in the first place.

Oh boy! Sign Me Up! For that! NOT!!!

I am starting this blog to tell you it does not have to be this way. You can still have the nice relaxing time like in the old days. Here are a few things that I assume fit my target audience. (GrandParents)

Disney Grandparents

Hey the fact is we are all getting older. We cannot do the things we used to. Somedays it just hurts to get out of bed. Grandma and I are in pretty good shape and are very active. However age does make changes in you. Here are a few things I have noticed about Grandma and I.

  • We are slower. Running at rope drop just is not possible
  • Fast spinning rides makes me sick. Didn’t use to,
  • I don’t bend like I used to. Joints are not as flexible
  • Ride seats seem to be made for Twiggy and not Victor Buono. We are not Twiggy
  • Getting up early is easy
  • Staying up late is hard
  • Technology seems to hinder rather than help
  • You get frustrated at Gen-whatever that are glued to their phones 24/7
  • You still believe in saying please, thank you and excuse me.
  • You love your Grandkids to death but still want/need/crave quiet down time

If any of these seems to ring a bell, then this blog is for you. I will be posting things I find that make a Disney vacation Magical for Grandma and I and hope that you will find it interesting and useful.

Talk to you next time
